Analyze user behavior
Funnels
We’ve seen individual user actions tracked over time, but how do we know if our end users are using our app the way we expect them to?
Return to the Project Analyses and open the Homepage to Order Confirmation funnel. Make sure the chart is filtered to show “All users”.
This funnel is capturing users who started on the homepage, shopped, and checked out. If users dropped off before the next step, that’s captured.
Keep in mind
Think about common user journeys in your own applications. How would you define the steps you want to monitor?
Click segments to view relevant user sessions.

- How could a funnel like this be leveraged for your app?
- Which dropoff segments seem more expected, and which are the most worth investigating first?
- Funnels are commonly used not only to monitor expected user success, but also to troubleshoot issues and optimize apps for better conversions.
- Visiting a homepage, product page, or even abandoning the cart are more expected actions than not completing an order confirmation after placing an order.
The fact that such a high percentage of users do not get an order confirmation after placing their order is actually alarming!
I hear a ping from WebEx… I think I know what it might be about!
